The official chat room moved

Published on

In response to recent events of ownership change and conflict on Freenode, I decided to move the main official Pepper&Carrot chat room somewhere else. Here are the new links:

If you are not familiar with this networks and just want to join our chat room; it's easy. You don't need to install anything and can happen in your web-browser. Just click this link to open Pepper&Carrot chat room and you'll be able to read our recent discussions. To interact with us, you'll need to create an account (and I recommend the read of our CoC) but that's all. Easy!

The community bridges (eg. the popular Telegram bridge) will follow soon, hopefully. Thank you for your patience.

On a last note, I want to say that I used daily Freenode to chat with many projects since 2009 (Blender open movies, Krita, Inkscape) and it was also the home of Pepper&Carrot and contributors since 2014 and I'm grateful for that. So many countless ideas and good time happened on this network for me. It is sad to leave it. But knowing most of the Freenode staff moved to Libera.chat makes me feels confident the good time and good ideas will continues to happen on our new place. Thanks again to: Dezponia for the setup of our Matrix room, M1dgard and Cmaloney for reserving the namespace on libera.chat and thanks gleki for the work on the bridge! And thanks also to Matrix and Libera.chat networks for hosting Pepper&Carrot!

Any chance for a room on bridged channel on Discord; I'm less hip to IRC than discord.

link David Revoy Author,

Hey, I understand for the IRC. No problem; that's why the channel is twined with a Matrix/Element room, and you'll see: this room will probably appeal more the Discord users with the interface while being setup on a open protocol, decentralised, with open-source client (so, imo, way better than Discord). If −anyway− a community insist at bridging our channel to Discord, I'll not be against it (the channel is public); but the bridge will have to be managed by community (same than for the Telegram bridge). If you know how to technically do that and you are willing to host this bridge and maintain it while doing the moderation/admin of the Discord bridge; you are welcome.

These are difficult times for IRC. Thank you for not abandoning it entirely.

I'm on IRC on a daily basis, using Weechat in a Yakuake drop-down terminal. Count me in :-D

Do you have any discord link?

There's an unofficial Discord (deevad's not in it because AFAIK he only uses nonfree platforms for promotion of the webcomic). You can ask in the IRC/Matrix channel for the invite code, I don't have it handy.

link David Revoy Author,

Oh good to know! I'm also interested by it now you talk about it 👍 Remind me about the room later in June on IRC/matrix; I'll visit the place to say a little hello. (I have a Discord profile because sometime it is the only way to contact project; I'm not planning to use it daily, but it's really ok to visit from time to time).
