A comic in four panels, full transcript is written under.
The first dose is free...

Transcript:

Panel 1. The Gothic Sorceress paces back and forth on the foundation of her house: all that remains are the floor tiles and the outlines of the walls. The Avian Intelligence (AI) flies while watching her. In the distance, a storm is approaching: lightning streaks across the sky.

Gothic Sorceress: “Let’s think about this. Given your powers, you can probably build me a brand-new house, right?”

Panel 2. Close-up: the stoic Avian Intelligence and the Gothic Sorceress, cheerful and excited by the good news, as a few raindrops fall.

Avian Intelligence: “That is indeed a task I can handle. Shall I make it just like the one before?”
Gothic Sorceress: “Yes!”

Panel 3. Same shot, Avian Intelligence seems to have shifted into a different mode. The Gothic Sorceress is shocked and protests, exclaiming.

Avian Intelligence: “Oops, I can't. You have exceeded your request quota for this month.”
Gothic Sorceress: “WHAT?!”

Panel 4. Under now heavy rain, the Gothic Sorceress has turned her back and is trying to contain her intense anger, clenching her fists. Avian Intelligence continues its sales pitch:

Avian Intelligence: “Subscribe now to Avian Intelligence Premium for unlimited requests!”
Gothic Sorceress: “Grrr!!!!”

I'm posting this new episode a day earlier than usual (usually on Wednesday for the weekly comic) because I'll be traveling tomorrow and I'm not sure I can rely on the wifi (train/hotel) to get everything uploaded smoothly. Better safe than sorry!

Good thing there is no "Post it later" functionality in the #fediverse :) I needed the artwork from you today. Thanks

(And no, there is no option to have a post it later functionality in the whole Fediverse and there never will be and don't search for it and if the avian intelligence says otherwise I assure you it is just hallucinating and *babblesOn*)

@johnnythan Yes, it's probably better like that, I prefer to inform anyway about it when I need to post a day earlier or like in January, a day later (had a funeral that day, wasn't in the mood to post my funny comic and spam the TL of my family with it).
It's life, and I'm not a company with a process, or software that does crossposting (I continue to post all manually), and I prefer it that way 😊, it's always a pleasure to comeback with something weekly.

@johnnythan Have a 🤗 too

BTW Tusky App allows the scheduling of posts.

Few people use it though, it's a cultural thing I guess plus no pressure to feed the algorithm 🤔

I do use it sometimes when I'm travelling and want to post pictures, so that posts that identify my location only go out after I have already left. That will give me some locational privacy.

@doc Great, I was typing it when I saw your edit!

So here it is anyway (for a bit of self promo) my website with full Krita sources, high resolution and translations peppercarrot.com/en/webcomics/

The RSS: peppercarrot.com/en/rss/miniFa

Or it's possible to list them all on the Fediverse with the hashtag (or follow the hashtag)

I was really looking forward to hearing how this topic would be covered.

And Iove it.

@sam4000 Thank you! Yes, it was on my list for long, but I wanted to really put it at a moment in the story when Cepper, the Gothic Sorceress, would really need it.
With the home destroyed on the two previous episode it was the perfect opportunity. Now, I have another good opening to jump on the theme of the 'locally installed AI', also a big item on my TODO list.

Local AI sounds nice, but you need expensive* hardware and the quality lags 6 to 12 months behind commercial AI – at least in simple terms.

I’m looking forward to seeing them; your comics are simply brilliant.

* Prices for local AI hardware are actually falling, at least until the next hardware price surge hits.

@sam4000 prices of hardware has been rising alongside RAM, at least in the used market which is the only place I regularly check. My GPU that cost me 600€ more than a year ago is 750-800€ now. I don't know what are the falling prices you mention.

LLMs of any size they're all shit, except for a few particular tasks, most of which don't require a GPU this expensive (or any GPU at all, if you have some patience). I keep a very small LM loaded at all times for image transcriptions and things like that. Most of my VRAM is used with Blender or VR stuff. I _could_ load much bigger models (when I'm not using the GPU for graphics) but I don't really need to.

How messed up do you think the house will be if Parrot did remake it. I can imagine finding random out of place things for days lol.

link David Revoy Author, - Reply
davidrevoy

@VANTABlack2000 🤣 Oh yes. And probably many things looking good at first, but totally awkward later; like the door to the toilets not opening fully because hitting the toilet seat, or a random door lower sized than all other that you have to constantly remind for bending yourself a little, or a random stair on the way to a room lower than all other. Many little poisons like that 😆

This has literally never happened to me.
All of the AIs just keep giving me free service forever.
I think I'm on a list or something.
