100% here for this! Though I see she has not yet decided to "wear midnight". ;)
But the lighting is so good! Beautifully captured!

@rez
I always wondered, if it is midnight blue or midnight black. Or both.
Any way my pick of colours. :-)

It is lovely β€οΈ

oh my god it's happening, pepper and carrot universe is merging with the discworld.

@peha If only I could do that and still have the result legal in term of copyrights... (Rhianna, please, grant me a perpetual license, I promise you won't regret it πΊ )

oh oh, just imagine that, my friend, it could be glorious.

It will always be a regret that nothing from the Pratchett estate was put into Creative Commons SA. I always felt that it would have been a good fit in comparison to the closed nature of copyright inheritance.

asking as an absolute layperson, how fast is speed-painting, how long did it take you to paint this?
davidrevoy
@climbertobby Speedpainting duration is always relative to any artist. Here I call speedpaintings the one I do in only one sitting, this one took ~2h. (I usually paint more than 9h on my pieces)
I had a little time at 17h30, a pinch to the heart seeing other celebrating the death anniversary of Terry Pratchett, and wanted to participate with a little something.
With this time budget, I couldn't detail much anything, but captured what I had in mind during my reading experience.

11 years already, huh? Back then when I was 20 I read all of Discworld in under a year. And then Pterry died. What did I cry then! Now I am reading the books to my child, just now came back from reading Soul Music until he sleeps. And so things live one. First through us, now through our children. So now I am crying again. He wrote "No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away". Pterry has not caused ripples, but giant waves. Let my tears make sure the waves never calm down.
Also been thinking this for a long while, but I think you'd be perfect for illustrating Tiffany Aching series. Like Paul Kidby is great and beloved, but Tiffany Aching expresses strength, and your drawing is really good at exrpressing strength. I am sure he would have loved your illustrations.

@lazy Thank you for your words and for sharing this. 11 years ago I was feeling down in the dumps and we went with my wife in our favorite restaurant of the moment to rise a glass and cheers up us a bit.

The horse being on a cliff is really interesting visual. Compared to the real life one:

4 βdavidrevoy
@doctormo Thank you for the link, I had no idea!
βdoctormo@floss.social
The way Pratchett poetically describes the horse as being the form what a horse in motion should be, really makes sense when you've seen the thing it's based on
I saw it in real life once on the train as we passed by.
