Transcript:
A comic in four panels:
Panel 1: The Gothic Sorceress sits at a table, surrounded by a party hat, wine and champagne glasses, the aftermath of a long dinner with the plates, and the silhouettes of a crowd behind her during the new year eve party at the magic school. She looks bored and disconnected from the celebration. She ask out of curiosity her AI Parrot, perched on the back of the empty chair beside her.
Gothic Sorceress: "Avian Intelligence, how could one actually make their New Year's resolutions stick?"
Panel 2: The AI Parrot responds. She listens looking at the Parrot even more bored.
AI Parrot: "Break down big goals into smaller ones, stay consistent, and track progress."
Gothic Sorceress: "Boring..."
Panel 3: The Gothic Sorceress turn back to the crowd behind her: the Headmaster rise his glass for a toast with his own AI Parrot perched on his shoulder. The AI Parrot also look at the scene.
Headmaster: I propose a toast, to Avian Intelligence, and how it will change everything!
Guest: To a new era!
Guest: And mega profits!
Panel 4: The Gothic Sorceress's behavior shifts, her body language becoming flirtatious toward her AI Parrot, for asking a question. The AI Parrot, however, recoils slightly, its digital body language conveying surprise and a hint of alarm as it grasps the implications of her query.
Gothic Sorceress: "And how would you break down 'wipe out the Avian Intelligence industry' into smaller goals?"
AI Parrot: "?!!"

2 ★The only thing this comic needs is for the "?!!" bubble to be colored with the same color as the normal AI speech, and have a sparkle icon.
davidrevoy
@anonax Good point! I'll update the version on the main website. ( https://www.peppercarrot.com/en/miniFantasyTheater/033.html ) I already have on my list:
- panel 3. champagne cork bad copy/paste.
- panel 4. blue area on right of the tail of the parrot, copy/paste not post fixed.
- Panel 3. Missing Sparkle emoji symbol on the AI Parrot on the shoulder of the Headmaster.
Thank you for reporting the issue!

Avian Intelligence was a genius idea. And the gothic sorceress is an adorable addition to the cast. Thanks for all the fun this year, David, and cheers to a happy 2026!

one question, will it be possible to download the webcomics chapters as e-pub/cbz or similar? thanks!
davidrevoy
@eickot Yes, that's part of my plan and TODO, but nothing is done yet: I need to script it part of my update routine for the backend ( https://framagit.org/peppercarrot/tools/-/blob/master/update-all.sh?ref_type=heads ) , the challenge being to trigger the process only once monthly, version the ebooks with a YYYYMM pattern, and also find a way to split them into sub-books for the weight. There is also research for the format, compression. Then, the appearance, and page on the website to serve them. A big task!
2 ★Varpie@peculiar.florist
@eickot To trigger the process only once monthly, maybe you could use a cron job? For the date, this is something you can get with date +%Y%m (which should be installed in any Linux system, it's part of the coreutils)
★eickot@mastodon.social
I'm busy, you know XMas time, but do you accept help? maybe I can take a look into that when Xmas time is over :) (I don't warranty anything, but cbz/cbr were a simple zip)
davidrevoy
@eickot That's very nice to propose, thank you very much; but I think I'll be super fast for the Bash/Packing as CBR or EPUB; the real work will be how to manage the covers, creative commons notice, attribution, then the Website frontend to distribute them and make them easy to find. I just need to brainstorm about it to have clear vision of what it should be; the technical path to accomplish it will be solved quickly once I'm out of the blurry vision I have right now.
davidrevoy
@eickot Something that can help me a lot, would be a recommendation or a download link to CBZ/CBR/EPUB you find particularly well done for comics.
I need to experiment that on my Kobo HD Aura :)
eickot@mastodon.social
Well, I can take a look, I've got some things with right protection but I'm not super into comics, just this year I bought a tolino shine color, (A Kobo clara color, with different software) If you wish, I can try to send to you in private some of the stuff that I've hat I think were well done.
eickot@mastodon.social
Looking into it, in my e-reader, I think the only one that I've got with good metadata is a spyXFamily commic in epub with drm removed. (I bought that)
★dorianlebg@piaille.fr
@eickot I was asking myself the same question, and because I did not found an answer on the Internet, I built my own CBZ generator, and even an OPDS library around it
https://gitlab.com/DodoLeDev/pepperandcarrot-cbz
eickot@mastodon.social
@dorianlebg love Opensource! I see that the comics you generated are the french ones, right? Also there is no metadata in the CBZ, I was looking yesterday to see how can be added metadata to a cbz: https://github.com/comictagger/comictagger/blob/develop/comicapi/comicarchive.py
dorianlebg@piaille.fr
@eickot TBH, I wasn't aware metadata were supported in a CBZ file, provided that it's just a Zip file 😅
That's where OPDS is an interesting choice: you can separately provide info about the books.
I will look into the repo you provided to see how I can embed info inside the files
And about the French lang, it's just for my personal use, and you just have to fork the repo and edit the gitlab-ci.yml to generate an OPDS Catalog that will fit your needs (everything you need to know are in the Readme and in the embedded help of the python scripts)
eickot@mastodon.social
@dorianlebg After investigating a little bit, seems that CBZ/CBR doesn't have an standard of metadata, but multiple options to include it: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/CBR_and_CBZ#Metadata
davidrevoy
@eickot @dorianlebg good link, thanks for sharing, i'll bookmark this one. The json way sounds good
eickot@mastodon.social
@dorianlebg Yeah, I think the best way is to generate an epub, with images as pages or similar, but I didn't found any good source sample for that :(
eickot@mastodon.social
@dorianlebg Hey, still working on it, but based on dorian code (well also migrated to swift, I like swift) I can generate this: https://limewire.com/d/sGTLy#L8JhrkTeMT First 10 chapters in an epub, with Table of contents working. When I will have things slightly improved, I will publish the code :)
eickot@mastodon.social
@dorianlebg Sorry, I promise, is the last message, This is the source of the swift app that generates what I shared yesterday: https://gitlab.com/dracks/pepper-and-carrots-epub
