Mypaint watercolors

A watercolor done with Mypaint ( master from Git ) while preparing my journey to Turin for Viewconference workshop tomorrow. No particular theme, just the pleasure to play with brush on a female random face to create a smooth set of lines and volumes.

Today Martin Renold increased performance of watercolor/smudge brushes by 25% , and bring back the old color changer from Mypaint 0.6 . This one got removed just before Sintel pre-production ( replaced by the new color changer, I also very like ) . It was a wish I did on bug tracker in February to have both color changer. Many thanks again to him. Also layer blending modes are a real pleasure...

Lovely, David. The water color brush is my favorite but I don't use it for water color painting. I use it for regular fine art painting because I just love the texture it produces. I hope there is performance improvement on that brush (I was using your Deevad4, water color brush 1). The larger the brush, the slower it was. I wonder if that has to do with the overall performance of the computer if it isn't Mypaint...I hope Mypaint introduce bristle brushes or brush that easily produce hair strokes; that would be nice. ^^

@johnny-d-wicked : Thx Yes there is improvement on this one. Watercolor brushes are complex to compute for any computer, and more when they are big ( a lot of dab per second, using a lot of sensor from tablet and interaction with smudging on the canvas ) I 'll try to also optimize here a bit the preset.
For other brush tips as bristle I think this cannot come soon in Mypaint development due to the dab 'circles' only brush engine for the moment. Maybe square will come sooner, then diamond , then triangle ... then with time ; may be parallel strokes to simulate multi bristle. Who knows ? But I don't think Mypaint will know one day 'bitmap brush mask'...

Salutations .... j'ai commencé mon voyage de peinture avec le début de vos choas et tutoriel évolutions .. c'était une experiance génial .. ma première peinture numérique commence avec gimp .. j'ai besoin d'un petit conseil de celui qui le logiciel est plus Convient pour les débutants ...

@Grace : Merci pour le message. Pour débuter , je conseille Mypaint pour le plaisir de dessiner simplement plus à côté un apprentissage de la manipulation photo avec Gimp pour ajouter des effets et comprendre le numérique. Bonne continuation

salutations:):):):). Pour moi, il est vraiment difficile de travailler avec des couleurs. Le stade le plus déroutant, c'est, comment choisir la couleur combinatoire pour la couleur de base. Y at-il une idée ou une technique pour travailler avec les couleurs.
Le fait très intéressant, je n'ai jamais constaté dans la plupart de vos tutoriels, vous a toujours remplir la plupart des travaux dans la couche noir et blanc. Est technique Thet est bon pour les débutants.
Quelle est votre méthode favorite de la peinture à l'étape de début et maintenant.:)

@Grace : Bonjour, quand on débute, il est important d'apprendre les bases theorique des couleurs. Je conseil cet ouvrage : "Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter de James Gurney. Sinon l'informatique permets via les logiciels de travailler en noir & blanc et de coloriser après. Cela permet de diviser le travail sur les valeurs , et d'aborder la couleur après. Ma technique actuelle ? tout dépends si j'ai une idée des couleurs , ou des valeurs de mon illustration prédominante en premier. Bon courage!
